The Peds Nurse Mom

About Me

Hello, my name is Amy and I’m going to be your nurse today!

I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from a small liberal art college in Michigan. I worked for a short stint in the Infant Special Care Unit and then spent several years in a pediatric office. We were blessed with three beautiful children, including a sweet daughter and adorable girl/boy twins.

I loved working as a pediatric nurse! A big part of my job while working in a pediatric office was patient education. Not surprisingly, I learned a lot as a nurse that I use as a mother and experiences of being a mother I was able to use to help my patients. However, as a first time mom, and then a mother to twins, I found myself extremely overwhelmed at times and searching for all the information I could get my hands on. Friends and family members have reached out to me many times with questions that I could relate to as a pediatric nurse and a mother. After a few people telling me I should write a blog, I decided to give it a try.

Even though writing can be a challenge for me and I am far from being the perfect mom, I am passionate about sharing with others what I have learned about women and children’s health. If I can help at least one mom who is experiencing stressful doctor/dental visits, sleepless nights, postpartum depression, food aversion, oral sensory disorders, toddler emotions, lack of mommy self assurance, and more, then this will be all worth it! Motherhood can be really challenging and we all need to lean on each other whenever we can!
